Purchase order split shipments

Finale has the ability to handle the complex scenario of receiving split purchase orders shipments back to single purchase order. An order may be divided across split shipments at different times or from different locations.

There are several common scenarios where split shipments are required.   You may have a large purchase order with a Chinese-based manufacturer, and the supplier may elect to fulfill the order by sending multiple containers at different times to complete the purchase order.

Another common scenario occurs when one or more items on the purchase order are backordered.  Your vendor will likely immediately send you items that they can fulfill so you are not waiting for the entire shipment. Backordered items will most be delivered in subsequent shipments.

Lastly, you have a purchase order and elect to have to the vendor ship half the shipment to the first warehouse and the remaining shipment to the another warehouse located in another state.

Hi, this is Fred with Finale Inventory. Today, we’re gonna talk about how to receive a partial shipment for a purchase order. So, we’re gonna start by going into our purchase order, then we’re gonna go to edit shipment, and here we’re just gonna enter the quantity that we’re actually receiving. Once you mark it received, you have now added that into stock. And if you go to your purchase order view, it will show partially received.

Now, when you’re ready to add another shipment, all you need to do is go to add shipment, which creates another shipment, and here you can enter the remaining quantities. See how it adds it together? But if you want to see the details, you just need to expand here and it shows you shipment one and then the current shipment. When you’re ready, you can receive the shipment, and now your order is fully received. You can have as many shipments as you need. And if you want to do sales order partial shipments, it’s the exact same process. Thank you.
